Future Plans

For a number of years, The Friends have been fundraising for a major redevelopment of the Hospice premises on the Curragh, and this includes an extension which will increase bed capacity from seven to thirteen palliative care support bedrooms.

A Day Hospice is being included to allow the palliative Home Care patients a ‘day out’ and provide some respite for their families.

The aim of the Day Hospice is to provide timely, clinically appropriate and sensitive person centred care for patients.

It will provide supportive management for common debilitating symptoms, e.g. breathlessness, fatigue and lymphoedema.

In addition, the Day Hospice will offer range of activities to day care patients, and these will include:

Complementary Therapies

Reflexology and massage

Hairdressing/Beauty treatments

Building Project

This enormous and costly building project is a joint venture with the HSE. The HSE sets the criteria required for such a facility, but all of the costs are borne by The Friends.

The building has now been completed and we are confident that it will be a beautiful environment for patients and their families.
